Octopath Traveler: All Scholar Abilities RANKED!

Octopath Traveler: All Scholar Abilities RANKED!

Octopath Traveler is a fantastic game with a fantastic array of jobs! The Scholar is your team's first multi-target elemental attacker, and has the utility of revealing enemy weaknesses! However, as usual, some abilities are better than others, so this time around, RPG Ranked presents... Octopath Traveler: All Hunter Abilities RANKED!

4. Tier 1 Elemental Spells

These abilities suck. The only time you should use them is if 1) you are running out of SP or conserving SP or 2) if you are trying to weaken an enemy without killing them. That is it. Otherwise, learn this abilities last, since their best use is to be unlocked to pick up Alephan's Enlightenment.

3. Tier 2 Elemental Spells

These spells are some of the most powerful attacks for a vast majority of the game. Though they are outclassed by the abilities of the Runelord and the Sorcerer, you should definitely pick these up and use them throughout the game. Though I find these abilities much stronger than the next ability on this list, since these abilities are completely outclassed by their Sorcerer counterparts, I couldn't justify placing them higher on this list.

2. Analyze

Unlike the last two abilities, this ability is still relevant even after you get the Sorcerer. Outside of Cyrus's passive, Study Foe, this is the only way to reveal weaknesses without trial and error, making this an essential ability to have for a while. I mean, if you are using a strategy guide or the Internet, yes, this ability is useless. But overall, as long as you are not using a walkthrough, this ability really helps in defeating your foes!

1. Alephan's Enlightenment

This ability allows you deal double damage with magic at the cost of only being able to hit one enemy with your spells. However, since that comes at literally no cost during single-target boss battles? This is an amazing ability, especially once you get the Sorcerer class. Use a Tier 2 Scholar spell or a Sorcerer spell in combination with this ability (and maybe even Aelfric's Auspices and/or Driesang's Spell), and you will be dishing out obscene amounts of damage. Overall, pick up this ability as early as possible so you can deal double magic damage!
